Aberdeen Investments has appointed Isaac Thong as senior investment director on the Asia-Pacific equities team.

Based in Singapore, Isaac will lead aberdeen's Asian income strategies, as well as being part of the Asia-Pacific equity team.

He will report directly to Flavia Cheong, head of Asia-Pacific equities, aberdeen, and replaces Yoojeong Oh, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

Thong has over 15 years’ experience in the financial industry. Before joining aberdeen, he managed J.P. Morgan’s emerging markets income strategy out of London, and has extensive experience managing country funds in Asia, specifically for Vietnam and Thailand, while based in Singapore.

In his latest capacity as executive director of equities, Thong managed a US$5 billion EM income strategy, achieving a top quintile ranking within the peer group.

He has a bachelor of commerce degree with joint honours in finance and economics from McGill University and is a CFA charterholder.
