Citi Korea has launched its new Korea desk in Chicago, expanding its on-the-ground financial support for Korean corporate clients entering the North American market and the bank’s established network.
Since opening its inaugural Korea desk in New York in 1993, the bank has consistently supported the global expansion of Korean corporate clients by establishing Korea desks across major financial centres in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
With the launch of the Chicago Korea desk, the bank has further strengthened its local support framework in North America, enhancing its capacity to serve Korean corporate clients across the entire continent.
Chicago’s strategic position as a hub for manufacturing and logistics in the US Midwest makes it a key gateway connecting markets throughout North America.
The new desk adds to existing Korea desks supporting the bank’s clients in London, Prague, Dubai, Singapore, New York, Warsaw, Chennai, Hong Kong, Atlanta and Monterrey.
Korean corporate clients are rapidly expanding their presence across North America in diverse industries, the bank points out, including manufacturing, power, semiconductors and services.
As more companies establish production and sales bases throughout the United States, their business activities are no longer confined to specific regions but are increasingly distributed across North America. This trend, the bank adds, underscores the critical importance of stable, locally managed financial operations that remain consistent with headquarters-level standards.
“Citi Korea has a long history of supporting Korean corporate clients by seamlessly connecting the financial operations of their headquarters in Korea with those of their overseas subsidiaries through our Korea desks in key global markets,” says Kyoungho Kim, Citi Korea’s head of corporate banking group. “The launch of the Chicago Korea desk further extends this vital capability in North America.”
